To my devoted Readers!

FINALS ARE ALMOST OVER AND MY CREATIVITY IS ABOUT TO START!!!!

Alright so I noticed that I do have some pretty devoted readers who keep checking to see if I've updated anything on my blog but.... as a busy college student and an RA plus trying to finish her finals I would have to say I've been a little crazy busy.  Do NOT worry it will be over soon! In fact I'll be done all my finals tomorrow.

So.... I was thinking since I have to stay here till Saturday hope about I alter another piece for you?  I recently went to a theater costume sale at our school and got some pretty sweet pieces and fabric that I would like to use.  I guess you'll just have to tune in the next couple of days to see what I put together!

MODCLOTH!!!

* I Love these dresses! I might be doing something pretty similar to one of them... Try to pick which one you think it will be and comment bellow.

I hope everyone has a great Christmas break and keep looking for new updates on my blog! I will be bringing my fabric and sewing machine home over Christmas break!

LETS DANCE!

Alright so most of you ladies would be able to relate to this.  Isn't it frustrating how much money it costs to go to a dance?!?

Costs:
Dress: $50
Jewelry: $10
Makeup: $10
(I'm sure I didn't cover most of them....

Well..... It doesn't have to be this way.  I really wanted to go my winter formal so I decided to make my own dress.  I started on Friday and finished Saturday morning! (Lets just say it was a lonnnnggg night ;)

Here Is What I Started With...
I got this dress from K.B. and loved the fabric but....... it was a size extra small! That's why I'm not wearing it since it didn't fit :(
This was the back :)

Right away I knew I wanted to do something with the dress I just wasn't sure what... So I started brainstorming and then started cutting away....

I got this fabric from a second hand store for .50 cents :)  I loved the color and new that I would use it.

This lace was gorgeous and I got it from K.B. along with the dress. It was an antique looking lace and new that it would look great with the cream colored dress.
This was originally the back of the dress.... I took the zipper out and put the same lace and purple fabric where the zipper was so that I could have a little more room...

Now what I did with this dress was I took the top off completely and used the skirt.  I just moved the skirt up so that It ended up being a strapless dress, You should have seen what It looked like as just a strapless dress.  Kind of frumpy ;)

This was a view of the dress on me and looking down.  I actually ended up moving the skirt/dress completely around so the back was now the front.  I used the belt I made and sewed it onto the dress :)

Okay so this was at like 3 in morning.... But I finished!!! I still had some last minute touches.... but I decided it was time to go to bed when it reached 4 am...

Time To Go To the Dance :)

This was the back of the dress, I just noticed that the bottom of the bow was flipped up... oops

We had such a great time!!!
They are such a great example and blessing in our lives!

Aren't we a good looking couple ;)

We had such a great time and I was happy that my dress actually stayed put together for the dance!!! Thank you K.B. for the fabric and lace.  I would love if people commented and gave me their opinions.  Also maybe give me some ideas of what else they would like me to alter!!!

Tis the season for bows :)

Okay so I do realize I'm a little behind on my blog but I have to admit juggling classes and my hobby can be a little tricky, but I will try my best to keep up everyday!  Alright so today I actually went to a costume sale our school was hosting and got a ton of things for super cheap! I only spent $8.50 and got 3 bags of scraps a dress and some fur! Such a bargain.

Okay so today I said I would show you how you can make a cute fashionable outfit for really cheap! Ready for me to let you in on my secret..... It's called........... SECOND HAND SHOPPING!!!

Cute and very cheap!

Costs
Top: $2.50
Belt: $1.50
Tank top: FREE
Leggings: from my own closet :)
shoes: $2.00
TOTAL: $6.00 (plus the leggings but I can't remember how much they were)

Tis the Season for Bows!!!!!!!!!!!!

I remember when I used to wear bows in my hair as a little girl.. and now they are back!!!

 MY TURN!

Okay the last touch was the head band that I made myself :)

I took the bows of a dress that K.B. gave for me to alter.  You will be seeing this fabric sometime soon again, I just decided to take the bows off to use for my own personal use.  I thought they would make cute headbands :)

I'm excited to start working on other things.  I have finals coming up but keep looking I will try my hardest to keep updating my blog!

Trial and Error but it still turned out cute!!!

Okay so I've been working on this shirt that I got for $2.50 at a second hand store.  Lets just say I've been working on it for awhile now.  My inspiration came from a shirt I saw on Modcloth as you can see bellow!

* Isn't this shirt just adorable! What I really enjoyed was the belt and how it separated the shirt just a little bit.

* The back is what I loved the most! I loved how it opened up just a little bit and what was super adorable were the buttons on the back of the belt.  (You can't see them in this picture but check it out on the website, http://www.modcloth.com/store/ModCloth/Womens/Tops/Short+Sleeve+/Executive+Assistant+Top

This is what it turned out to look like :)

Before and very UGLY

Okay I'm not going to lie I thought this shirt was ugly the minute I saw it on the rack.  The only thing that saved it was its pattern which I couldn't help but think was adorable so of course I picked it up and started working on it!

 1. Right away I chopped the sleeves off.  My roommate and I really liked the end of the sleeves so I just cut them off and attached them to the top.  It turned out super cute!
 2.  I made the V neck a little deeper but then ended up moving it down even further
I made a belt from the fabric I had down on the bottom of the shirt.  I thought it looked adorable!
Here is the view of the whole front of the shirt! Can you believe that's the same shirt I started with?!?

Okay here's where I had the biggest issue.  I really wanted to have an open back just like the modcloth shirt.  It just wasn't as easy as I thought it would be.  I think it turned out okay but next time I'll have to measure it more evenly.  But hey we all learn from our mistakes.  I added two black buttons to the back of the belt. Super cute!

Are you ready to see the finished product?!?
TADA!!!!!!!!

Had to take a picture in black and white :)
Here's how the back turned out wish it would have turned out a little better but it was a lesson well learned! I think it is still cute and I plan on still wearing it!

Check back tomorrow for something completely different :)  Also check in to see how a couple dollars can still get you something pretty darn cute!

$2.50 and lookin good!

So I finished this project awhile back but since I'm just now starting my blog I thought I should catch you up on the some of the things I've been working on.  As you could see earlier some of the pretty hideous things I have bought now you will get to see how I have altered and made them a little more fashionable :) Enjoy!

Before
*Sorry for the messy hair I was too lazy to do it that morning... I'm sure most of you can relate!
 1. took off the collar
2. Put a V neck on it
3. I didn't like the buttons so I took them off :) (don't worry you'll see them later!)
After

1.  Tada!!! All done :)  I used the collar to make a big bow.  I added some lace and used the buttons to sew on top of the lace.

2.  I made it a little shorter to make it look more like a jacket.

 ALL DONE  :D
1.  I bought the elastic, lace, button, and flower from walmart!

2.  I did have a learning experience.  the elastic is stretchy  but the lace didn't.  Luckily I made the elastic big enough that it could just slide on my head.  It was a good learning experience for next time when I want to make another head band!

This was my first project at college and during my free time I'm working on my other shirts.  Keep watching for new updated things!

Second hand but wearable... I think so!

Hey everybody!

So I wanted to start this blog mostly for my own interest but also because another blogger has inspired me. Check out her blog!

http://www.newdressaday.com/

So where do I start?  How about what I've been up too lately.  I decided that I wanted to start sewing but not only from scratch but second hand clothing as well.  Why throw out clothing when you could change a few things and make it completely different?  So that's what I'm doing as my new hobby.  My theme is second hand fashion.
So basically everything that I'm using is second hand.

* I bought a Sears Kenmore sewing machine at a thrift store for $25.
